Euro League champions Olympiacos have claimed their third international trophy in two years. On Friday at home in Athens the European Super Cup was added to the rich club's tally by beating LEN Trophy runners-up Padova 10-6. The Italian champions, who fell to Imperia in last year's LEN Trophy final got their chance after the withdrawal of Imperia but suffered greatly during the second and third period on Friday. Olympiacos turned a 2-3 deficit after the opening quarter into a comfortable 9-3 lead with the game being played after three quarters. Although six more goals were exchanged in the final session the outcome of the contest was never in doubt. Greek veteran Alkisti Avramidou was top scorer netting 5 shots.
