Ashley Stoddart
Australia
has qualified for all nine Olympic sailing spots it was aiming for, with Ashley
Stoddart securing a Laser Radial berth.
Stoddart
finished 11th overall at the world championships in Oman on Friday to claim her
Olympic qualifying spot.
"I'm
so thrilled about the country qualification," Stoddart said on Friday.
"This
venue is a tricky one and I'm glad to have sailed a good week and come away
with a result that I deserve."
Shifty
winds made it tough for sailors in Al Mussanah, leading to several black-flag
general recalls.
"I
sailed a really clean race and just stayed on lifts and in the pressure as much
as possible," the 22-year-old said.
Australia
has now secured a spot at the Rio Games in the men's and women's 470, Laser,
49er, 49er FX, Nacra 17, Finn, women's RS:X as well as Laser Radial.
The
men's RS:X is the only boat class Australia did not expect to qualify for.
