Sydney Olympic proud after gritty FFA Cup win

Sydney Olympic coach Grant Lee said the icy conditions and heavy pitch made for a tough night but was proud of his players after their hard-earned 1-0 win over Gungahlin in the Westfield FFA Cup on Tuesday night.
Olympic's hero was Michael Gaitatzis. His moment of magic broke the deadlock inside the last 10 minutes of tough clash in the capital.
His smashing left-foot shot from the edge of the box sent Olympic into raptures. The Sydney club held on for a hard-earned 1-0 win in this round of 32 FFA Cup tie in Canberra.
FFA Cup wrap: goals and heroics
“Very happy with it. It is very difficult and playing these types of games. It’s Cup football,” Olympic coach Grant Lee told Fox Sports after the game
“A very wet and heavy pitch and even with screw-in [boots] you could see the boys slipping around.
“We’ve had a pretty good run of late [in the PS4 NPL NSW] so they handled it well. And in the second half we probably dominated more and a little more controlled and how we went about things.
“Gungahlin put up a very good fight.”

Now, for Olympic, the chance of going further than the Round of 16 is the goal. Can they do it?
Lee believed they can but there were a few factors that needed to fall in Olympic's favour.
“First of all it could be a very tough opponent. If you play an A-League side it’s going to have a lot of pressure [attached to that sort of game].
“And other things didn’t help us last year after we’d played the grand final 48 hours before we played.

“If we get a decent bit of recovery, and the right opponent we might go a little bit further. I hope so... it’d be nice for the club.”
