Former manager of the Greek national football squad, Sergio
Markarián, has apologized to the Greek fans for the failures of their national
team.
The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) decided to accept the
resignation of the 70-year-old Uruguayan Armenian specialist, who originally
stepped down on July 21, reported the website of the Union of European Football
Associations (UEFA).
“I ask Greek fans for their forgiveness, because our results
were not ones we wanted,” Markarián had stated at the time. “I thank the
players, the fans, the Greek federation, my assistants and the media for their
respect towards me.”
