    Rafael Nadal recovers mental strength

Rafa Nadal believes he is now in a good place mentally as he begins the build up to the US Open with an outing in Canada. The 29-year-old has endured a tough year and failed to get past the quarter-finals at either the Australian Open or Roland Garros.
The Spaniard then suffered yet another early exit at Wimbledon as he fell to the lowly-ranked Dustin Brown in the second round, and he has looked a shadow of the player that has claimed 14 Grand Slams over the past decade.
Question marks were raised about his fitness and his confidence levels but he bounced back to form to claim a title Hamburg last week back on his favourite clay surface.
He is now on the north American hard courts for this week’s Rogers Cup in Montreal and admits he will have to make further adjustments after going from clay to grass, then back to clay before the hard-court season.
“It’s always about adapting your tennis,” he told the ATP’s website about. “There’s a different way of hitting the ball, but at the end of the day it’s tennis.”
And the Majorcan left-hander felt that playing in Germany was the best thing he could have done to get back on track.
“Hamburg had been a positive week for me,” he added. “Mentally I was stable all week, something that I wasn’t able to do very often this season.
“My mental powers have been up and down more. Hamburg was not the case and I’m working well.
