Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney looming as his most likely homes, with both having ‘Australian marquee player’ vacancies.
Melbourne City was courting the Socceroos attacker but Aaron Mooy is understood to have accepted a deal to replace Josh Kennedy as the club’s Australian marquee, leaving them with little room to move
Sydney FC is understood to have made a late push for Troisi, but it would require Alex Brosque to come back within the salary cap.
Troisi is still under contract with Juventus, who loaned him to Belgians Zulte-Waregem last season, and if a deal is not struck by the end of the August transfer window he must return to the Italian giants.
A European or Asian move remains a possibility, with the European transfer window going into overdrive in the next three weeks.
Troisi refused to discuss which clubs were interested but conceded the A-League was an option.
“I’m open but whether it’s Europe, Asia, the Middle East or the A-League, it has to be the right move,’’ Troisi told News Corp.
“I’m not 21 any more, I’m 27 and I’ve been travelling quite a bit so I’m looking for a bit more security. If it’s the A-League though then I would be prepared to accept something more short-term.
“It’s only a few weeks before the transfer window closes so if nothing happens then I may have to go to Juve.’’
Troisi, 27, scored five goals in 21 games for his Belgian club last season and is currently in Adelaide training with Socceroos physio Les Gelis.
The attacker’s preference to stay in Europe, where he has played the bulk of his professional career
Victory’s local marquee position remains open after Mark Milligan was sold to UAE club Baniyas and Troisi spent the 2013-14 season there on loan, where he scored 12 goals in 29 appearances.
Troisi also celebrated last season’s title win with Victory players after attending the AAMI Park grand final.
The Wanderers’ Australian marquee position became available a fortnight ago after defender Matthew Spiranovic was sold to China.
Sydney FC has just signed Slovakian striker Filip Holosko to replace Marc Janko as the marquee player for 2015-16, but Brosque is the Australian marquee.
