Newcastle will demand 2.8 million Euro for the sale of Mehdi Abeid, with the 23-year not thought to be part of Steve McClaren’s plans, as per the Great Britain media
Mehdi Abeid spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Panathinaikos and seemingly impressed enough for the Greek side to be considering taking him back on a permanent deal.
He found himself on the fringes of things at United last season and is keen to move on to reinvigorate his stalling career.
The Algerian international joined from Ligue One side Lens in 2011 and has made just 13 Premier League appearances in his four years at the club.
Abeid now finds himself behind the likes of Jack Colback, Vurnon Anita and Georginio Wijnaldum in the battle for a central midfield spot, and his exit would be a move to suit all parties at this stage.
The reported £2 million fee seems excessive for a player who has done nothing noteworthy in the last two years however, and could well scupper any Panathinaikos attempt to bring him back to Greece.
