FIFA U-17 World Cup...Four-star Germany east past Australia

Germany got off to a great start in Group C with a 4-1 win over Australia in Chillan with Johannes Eggestein bagging a brace in a fairly one-sided encounter.
Both sides showed their intent in the opening exchanges, with Australia looking to be a little bit more direct in their attacks with Germany opting to counter. That’s how the first goal came about in the 14th minute when their skipper Felix Passlack finished off a devastating move with a strong finish.
The Joey’s responded positively; troubling the Europeans with a set piece and then Pierce Waring should have equalised but could not beat Constantin Frommann when presented with a one-on-one opportunity.
A minute after that chance, with 26 minutes on the clock, Eggestein made it 2-0 for Germany while Passlack could have – and probably should have - made it three on the half hour, but fluffed his chance.
Eggestein scored his second and Germany’s third of the afternoon with a truly fantastic finish to put the game beyond doubt, but once again the young Aussies responded positively after half-time.
Shortly after the re-start Frommann was called into action, smartly saving Jake Brimmer’s free-kick, but he was powerless to stop Pierce Waring’s expertly executed chip which sailed into the net.
Perry Fotakopoulos and Joshua Laws both had chances to reduce Germany’s advantage, but missed out due to a combination of good goalkeeping and bad luck.
However, Vitaly Janelt put the game beyond all doubt in the 65th minute with a drive from the edge of the area which will surely be a contender for Goal of the Tournament.
Australia finished strongly in the closing stages, forcing a number of free-kicks in dangerous areas, but although Brimmer went close on a few occasions, he could not find a way past Frommann.
