Anfield was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon amid reports two men had gone missing inside the stadium during a tour ofLiverpool's famous ground.
Police confirmed they were called to attend the Anfield Road stadium following 'security concerns'.
Footage uploaded to social media showed staff outside the club store while alarms rung out inside the building.
The club said relevant security services were aware and the Paisley Gates were locked once members of the public had been shown off site.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm officers are in attendance following security concerns at Anfield Stadium today.
"As a precautionary measure, the club has evacuated the stadium and officers are now carrying out enquiries at the scene.
"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on the 101 number or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
Liverpool are due to play AFC Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup at Anfield on Wednesday night.
