Tennis star Petra Kvitova is said to be recovering after successful surgery on her left hand following an attack by a knife-wielding intruder in her Czech home.
The man who left Kvitova with severe hand injuries at her house in the town of Prostejov is still at large.
Two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova, 26, underwent nearly four hours of surgery on Tuesday.
Karel Tejkal, Kvitova's spokesman, said the Czech player feels good and that her surgeon considers the operation to be a success.
Kvitova is expected to resume her career, but she will miss the Australian Open and a significant part of the season after damaging tendons in her left hand. The left-handed player also has injuries to all five fingers and two nerves on her left hand.
