Brisbane Roars stun hapless Adelaide United

Brisbane Roar have broken their run of draws in emphatic fashion, consigning Adelaide United to a 4-0 defeat at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Two goals in as many minutes from Danish midfielder Thomas Kristensen put the home side on their way, with Tommy Oar providing the assist on both occasions.
A Thomas Broich header and Jamie Maclaren penalty confirmed the result after the interval, with former Roar forward Henrique guilty of giving away the spot kick in an unhappy homecoming.
The Reds were better value than the final scoreline suggested, dominating the attacking stats, but a Iacopo La Rocca header that hit the crossbar was the closest they came to finding the back of the net.
The three points see Brisbane join third-placed Victory on 17 points, while Adelaide remain rooted to the foot of the ladder.
GOALS 1-0 Brisbane Roar: Thomas Kristensen, 28’ Tommy Oar whipped in a left-footed cross which was met by the diagonal run of Roar’s Danish midfielder, who glanced a header inside Eugene Galekovic’s far post. 2-0 Brisbane Roar: Thomas Kristensen, 30’ The home side hit the Reds on the break with Oar breaking down field before cutting the ball back for Kristensen who buried it in the back of the net with a first time strike. 3-0 Brisbane Roar: Thomas Broich, 55’ A Dimitri Petratos free-kick found an unmarked Broich in the box, who connected with a looping header that dipped inside the far post to register his first goal of the season. 4-0 Brisbane Roar: Jamie Maclaren (pen), 85’ A cross from Petratos was met by the arm of Henrique inside the box gifting the home side a penalty. Maclaren stepped up and duly dispatched the spot kick past Galekovic’s left.
