A
breathtaking Besart Berisha hat-trick spurred Melbourne Victory to a
clinical 3-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at Sydney's ANZ
Stadium on Saturday night.
In
an open and entertaining game in front of just over 16,000 fans,
Wanderers dominated the first half but their finishing lacked the
clinical edge they showed last week in Gosford.
However
Berisha showed he’s back to his clinical best, making Wanderers
keeper Andrew Redmayne pay for his error to give the visitors a first
half lead.
And
the Albanian international was on target again after the break with
two superb efforts to push the Big V to within a point of Melbourne
City ahead of next Saturday night’s huge Melbourne Derby.
For
Berisha, he moved to the top of the goal-scoring charts with eight
goals before the final two games of the round.
GOALS
0-1 Besart Berisha, Victory, 31’ The excellent Maxi Beister
unleashed a left-footed long range curling drive that was parried by
Wanderers keeper Andrew Redmayne straight into the path of an
oncoming Berisha to slot home. 0-2 Besart Berisha, Victory, 65’ Sub
Jai Ingham’s brilliant flat cross from the right found Berisha’s
head and between two central defenders “Bes” powered home his
team’s second as he went to the away fans to celebrate. 0-3 Besart
Berisha, Victory, 82’ The hero of the night was put through and he
out-muscled two defenders, keeping the ball brilliantly before
curling home from inside the box past Redmayne.
