Chelsea are set to offer Diego Costa a ‘contract for life’, the Daily Mirror reports. The 28-year-old striker’s current deal expires in 2019, but the South-West London are keen to offer him a two-year-contract extension with pay rise.
Costa has recovered his best form under Italian boss Antonio Conte having already fired 13 goals in Premier League, helping his side to reach the top spot of the table with 11 wins in a row.
Chelsea want to extend the Spanish striker’s stay at Stamford Bridge until 2021, when the former Atletico Madrid frontman will be 33. According to the British tabloid, Diego Costa’s new salary will be around £ 200k-a-week, whilst he’s currently earning somewhere around £ 150k-a-week.
Costa was linked with a return to Atletico Madrid last summer, but Antonio Conte decided to keep him at the club and the Spanish striker is now proving that his manager made the right decision when he decided not to give him away to Atletico in the previous transfer campaign
