Dane Bowers has been handed a 20-week jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
His former beauty queen partner Sophia Cahill said he hit her in the face, pulled her hair and squeezed her throat in a row over glitter.
Bowers had denied the claims, but was found guilty during a two-day trial in September.
Judge Sweet today stated that Bowers had subjected Cahill to a sustained attack and that he had difficulty controlling his anger.
He ruled that the offence made him eligible for a custodial sentence, but suspended it because "the impact of imprisonment would be considerable. There would be the impact on... [Bowers's] reputation and no doubt that would last for a period of time.
The former Another Level member had previously admitted being involved in a scuffle with his ex, but said any contact was accidental.
The encounter erupted in January after Cahill asked Bowers why he had glitter on his face when he returned from a circus-themed nightclub. The couple had split at the time but were still living at his parents' home.
Cahill had previously accused her ex-boyfriend and rugby star Ian Gough of assault, but the conviction was overturned at appeal.
