Istanbul (Turkey-TBL) has strengthened its roster for the upcoming 2015/16
season with the addition of Sofoklis Schortsanitis (206 cm). He is a Greek
player who has been on his country’s national team in 2003, 2006-11, and again
in 2013. The 30-year-old big man is coming off a two-season stint with Israeli
club Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (Winner League). In the 2014/15 season Sofoklis
played 26 games for Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and was
able to put together averages of 6.7 ppg and 2.3 rpg. In the domestic Israeli league
he posted averages of 7.8 ppg and 2.6 rpg through 23 games
