Perth Glory maintain strong pre-season form

Perth Glory FC has continued its rich vein of pre-season form, romping to a 4-0 victory over NPL outfit Inglewood United at Dalmatinac Park on Tuesday night.
Goals from Mitch Oxborrow and Chris Harold saw Glory head into the break with a 2-0 lead, before youngster, Stefan Valentini, sealed the victory with a second half brace.

The match began in perfect conditions, with Richard Garcia donning the captain’s armband for Glory.

The starting line-up was similar to that which defeated Cockburn the week before, however Michael Thwaite lined up in midfield with Dino Djulbic returning to the XI to partner Antony Golec in the heart of defence. Sidnei Sciola dropped out of the squad.

Inglewood impressed early but as Glory settled into the game, their passing prowess proved too strong for Inglewood, which led to the first goal.

Nebosja Marinkovic fed a centimetre-perfect ball through to Oxborrow who made no mistake, burying it past the United ‘keeper.

Perth continued to improve as the half went on, and Harold was sure to translate the dominance onto the score sheet.

The 23 year old unleashed a superb strike which soared into the top corner, much to the delight of the crowd.

Gyorgy Sandor played his first minutes in a Glory shirt, before being replaced by another new signing, in Hagi Gligor, midway through the first half.

After the break, Perth came out with trialist, Nick Feeley, replacing Jerrad Tyson in goal.

The match become somewhat of an arm wrestle as the sides grew tired, however Glory found new found vigour when the NPL youngsters were subbed into the game after 60 minutes.

From there, Valentini stole the show, scoring his first from point blank range after Nic Talimdzioski’s shot rattled the bar.

His second goal oozed quality as the youngster beat an Inglewood defender inside the box before blasting his shot past the outstretched ‘keeper.

The victory is Glory’s second in succession.

Perth’s next match will be on August 11, when it travels to Magic Park to face Newcastle Jets in a sudden death Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 tie.
