Jamaica's 'Raggae Boyz' stuns USA 2-1 to become first Caribbean team to reach Gold Cup final

Moments before Jamaica’s first goal, an open Clint Dempsey sent a header wide. They didn’t and led 4-0 at the break.
The host of the CONCACAF Gold Cup was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday night.
“It feels like David versus Goliath, ” Schaefer said Tuesday. At age 33, Klinsmann once scored four goals in a game to help Tottenham Hotspur avoid relegation to the English Premier League.
    The answer is unknown.
“Whatever happened with the guys that left, we became more powerful because everybody wanted one thing—to qualify for the next round, ” midfielder James Marcelin said.
It will be at the back where the attention is focused whenKlinsmann announces his lineup ahead of the match. After all he can only replace three of the starting 11 during a match.
A horror five minutes for the US saw it concede a deficit it could not arrest, with Mattocks and Barnes scoring in the final quarter-hour before the interval.
With the exception of five pivotal minutes, the usa dominated the game but while a Michael Bradley goal early in the 2nd half gave the usa hope, the team could not take advantage of its superior possession and shots.
“They’re a lot more organized”, Beasley said.
Now, Dempsey’s absence from Seattle isn’t exclusively on Klinsmann or the USMNT.
Tonight was also the first loss the USA has suffered since March 25 against Denmark.
Bradley’s goal early in the second half seemed to jump start the USMNT’s front line and the group had a handful of chances to not only tie the game but maybe even take a lead on Jamaica. The United States beat Haiti 1-0 in their first match during group stages. Their single victory, over eastern-leading D.C. United, was by no means commanding – it took Seattle 61 minutes of 11-on-10 soccer to score. He is now listed as “questionable” to be in the net on Saturday, but we expect him to be between the pipes come game time.
Both teams made two changes each amongst their sides. After today’s game U.S. faces Peru in a friendly in September.
Meanwhile Mexico did not have a spectacular group stage, but they managed to win a massive clash against Costa Rica in the quarterfinals to secure their place in today’s semifinals.
Now, the Sounders’ fall can’t be completely attributed to Dempsey’s absence. They understand what they need to be about in order to be successful.
But Winfried Schafer’s camp has been far from a harmonious one, with defender Alvas Powell walking out on the squad because of a lack of playing time, adding to a growing list of absentees for Jamaica. The United States will not get the chances it got against Cuba and it will, most likely, not see a second straight hat trick from Dempsey. That’s all they can ask for.
After scoring Jamaica’s victory goal against Haiti last Saturday in CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Football Association) Gold Cup quarterfinals, Jamaican player Giles Barnes said his team is making the most out of the tournament.
