FORMER A-League goalkeeper Griffin McMaster has been axed from the opening night of the FFA Cup after a Tweet calling for Adam Goodes to be deported.
Football Federation Australia joined the chorus condemning the Tweet, which saw his club Alexander Heidelberg United FC stand him down from Wednesday night’s Round of 32 clash with Broadmeadow Magic.
The goalkeeper, who is embarking on a media career, Tweeted “Adam Goodes calls Australia Day invasion day. Deport him. If you don’t like it leave”.
He deleted the comments but defended his views before offering an apology.
Called out on it by the editor of Four Four Two Australia, Kevin Airs, McMaster was defiant, replying: “Disrespect this country and you cop it. I’m not happy with the way he’s going about things.”
If anyone is offended. My apologies

FFA said in a statement: “Football Federation Australia (FFA) applauds Heidelberg United Football Club for standing goalkeeper Griffin McMaster down from tonight’s Westfield FFA Cup match following a series of offensive tweets this afternoon.
“FFA condemns the content of the tweets sent from Griffin McMaster’s personal twitter account and will continue to liaise with the club in relation to the matter.”
