The Golden State Warriors rebounded from their
streak-breaking loss to the Milwaukee Bucks by thrashing the Phoenix Suns
128-103 in a dominant performance at Oracle Arena.
Led by a rampant Klay Thompson, who had a season-high
43 points, the Warriors broke the back of the Suns during the late portion of
the second quarter to stretch their lead to 59-46 at the halftime break.
Thompson shot 15 of 22 from the field, but it was Draymond
Green who fed him throughout - Green finishing the game with his fourth
triple-double of the season - recording 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists
in a sterling performance.
The win moved Golden State to 25-1 for the season and
saw them record their 11th straight win at Oracle Arena for the season, a venue
they are yet to lose at.
Australian centre Andrew Bogut didn't trouble the
scorers but still bagged the post-match interview, something he made light of
before pointing out how dominant the Warriors can be when they get it going.
In this match that was from the halfway point of the
second quarter to the end of the third as they outscored Phoenix 69-25 through
that period.
"With Steph and Klay out there shooting threes it
went bang, bang, bang and it's a 20 point game," Bogut said.
"As long as we play defence we know we are going
to get a three or four-minute spurt somewhere in the game."
With the game almost over things got a little heated
as Ronnie Price hit Warriors big man Marresse Speights on the head, when he was
on his way to the basket, and Bogut wasn't happy, given that the game was
already over.
"It got a little ugly there," Bogut said.
"They're double-teaming us with 20 seconds left,
and then Mo (speights) gets almost taken out on a lay-up, so some questionable
things went on late in the game, but we got the win."
Golden State next host the team who ended their
24-game streak to start the season, the Milwaukee Bucks.
In San Antonio Patty Mills scored 11 points for the
Spurs, who ran out 114-95 winners over Washington as Kawhi Leonard scored 27.
Aron Baynes played his role for Detroit, scoring nine
off the bench as they moved into the top eight in the Eastern conference with a
119-116 victory over the Boston Celtics.
Joe Ingles missed the Utah Jazz's 104-94 loss to New
Orleans after having what was described as oral surgery by the Jazz.
