Roma, Fiorentina out of Coppa Italia

Holders Juventus have beaten 10-man Torino 4-0 with a Simone Zaza brace to get into the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup following the elimination of Roma and Fiorentina.

Zaza scored at the Juventus Stadium on Wednesday with a spectacular finish in the 28th minute off a cross from Alvaro Morata and, on 51 minutes, profited from a poor clearance.

The hosts had Cristian Molinaro sent off two minutes earlier with a second booking and were stunned again as substitute Paulo Dybala fired into the right corner with 17 minutes to go and Paul Pogba curled in a free-kick on 82 minutes.

Napoli advanced by beating Verona 3-0 earlier on Wednesday after Fiorentina were shocked 1-0 at home to Carpi and Roma lost 4-2 on penalties against second-division Spezia.

Napoli secured the win against the Serie A tail-enders with early goals from Omar El Kaddouri and Dries Mertens before substitute Jose Callejon found the net 15 minutes from time.

At Florence's Artemio Franchi stadium, Carpi's Antonio Di Gaudio beat Zeljko Brkic at the far post after a run on the left flank in the 76th minute.

Carpi, who are playing their first season in the Serie A, had defender Riccardo Gagliolo hit the post as his teammate Cristian Zaccardo had a tap-in saved in the 21st minute.

Fiorentina's best chances were a blocked run from Ante Rebic on 41 minutes and Milan Badelj's shot against the post three minutes later.

Home defender Davide Astori missed narrowly in injury time before teammate Gonzalo Rodriguez and Carpi's Jerry Mbakogu were each dismissed for second yellow cards.

Earlier in Rome, the Giallorossi fruitlessly controlled the game at the Stadio Olimpico as Spezia had a good chance when Brazilian Nene missed a tap-in after Morgan de Sanctis fumbled a save in the 26th minute.

Home strikers Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah had no telling chances in the second half, while Andrea Catellani threatened with a break for the Serie B side seven minutes from the end of regulation which finished goalless.

Miralem Pjanic and Dzeko missed from the spot for Roma while Spezia were flawless in netting four out of four to progress to the quarter-finals.

In the last eight, Spezia meet Alessandria, a third-division side who edged Genoa 2-1 on Tuesday. Inter Milan beat Cagliari 3-0 and are to tackle Napoli.

Lazio against Udinese and Sampdoria-AC Milan complete the round on Thursday.
