CSKA Moscow defeats Fenerbahce to lift Euroleague Basketball trophy

CSKA Moscow won its seventh Euroleague title by beating Fenerbahce 101-96 in overtime on Sunday despite blowing a big lead.
CSKA led by 21 in the third quarter but Fenerbahce caught up and could have won in regulation.
Guards Nando de Colo and Milos Teodosic paced CSKA with 22 and 19 points each, respectively.
De Colo, Euroleague MVP of the regular season, was also voted MVP of the Final Four. He had 30 points in the semifinal win over Lokomotiv.
"The only things that matters is this cup," the France guard said after the victory ceremony. "I want more."
Moscow is now second on the all-time list, behind Real Madrid with nine titles.
Fenerbahce was seeking to become the first Turkish club to win the top European club competition. Fenerbahce's coach Zeljko Obradovic has a record eight titles with four different teams but fell short against his former assistant Dimitrios Itoudis, with whom he won five championships while they were both at Panathinaikos. Fenerbahce lost in the semifinals last year.
"He is a great person and a great coach and I wouldn't be here without him," an emotional Itoudis said after the match. "We had some bad moments in the game, but we won with our heart, with our soul, with determination. I am really proud of these guys."
Teodosic finally won the title for the first time in seven tries with different clubs.
"I didn't really know what a great feeling it is to win and now I also want more," Teodosic said. "Fenerbahce never gave up, we really had to dig deep and give it all we had."
Fenerbahce was down by 20 at halftime but kept chipping away at CSKA's lead until Bobby Dixon scored eight straight points, the first and the last from the 3-point range, to tie the game with 43 seconds left.
Kostas Sloukas then put Fenerbahce ahead with two free throws. De Colo missed a 3-point attempt but Victor Khryapa got the rebound and put in it with less than two seconds on the clock.
Khryapa also had a big play in overtime when he and Teodosic combined to block Nikola Kalinic under the basket to protect CSKA's lead.
De Colo and Teodosic, who work well together, then took over — making free throws down the stretch. Dixon and Luigi Datome both sank 3-pointers to keep it close but Fenerbahce could not make another comeback.
Fenerbahce may have won the game if Jan Vesely had made more than one of 10 foul shots. Dixon led Fenerbahce with 17 points, while Datome, Pero Antic and Ekpe Udoh all had 16 apiece.
De Colo also had seven assists and three steals, while Teodosic had seven assists and five rebounds. Kyle Hines added 15 points for CSKA, which had made 13 of the past 14 Final Four tournaments.
Earlier, Lokomotiv Kuban used a big third quarter to beat Laboral Kutxa 85-75 in the third-place game.
Ryan Broekhoff and Malcolm Delaney scored 21 points each for Lokomotiv, which trailed by two at halftime. But the Russian team pulled away by winning the third quarter 21-11.
Laboral's Darius Adams had a game-high 25 points, going 6 of 12 from the 3-point range. He also had six assists and six rebounds. Davis Bertans added 13 points for the Spanish team.
