Bernd Schuster is a candidate for the Greece national team job, the Bild paper said Thursday, citing the former Real Madrid coach and Germany midfielder.
"Yes its true. The Greeks have contacted my adviser," Bild quoted Schuster as saying.
Schuster, 55, added he has far held no direct talks with Greek officials. Bild said that countryman Felix Magath is also a candidate for the Greece hotseat.
Greece enjoyed their biggest success, a surprise Euro 2004 title, under German coach Otto Rehhagel.
But the current team is playing poorly, ranked winless last in Euro 2016 qualifying with just one win in eight games, and the five defeats including both games against the Faroe Islands.
