Perth Glory fans have vented their frustrations at the
club's hierarchy before causing a ruckus in the stands as the team slumped to a
3-0 loss to Sydney FC in Perth.
Alex Brosque's double and a stunning strike from Bernie
Ibini-Isei compounded Glory's woes on a dark day for the A-League club.
Before the match, the Glory were kicked out of the finals
and fined $269,000 after being found guilty of serious salary cap breaches over
a three-year period.
Had Glory not been dealt the punishment, they would be
sitting equal top of the table with just two rounds remaining.
Instead, they are guaranteed to finish seventh unless they
launch a successful appeal against FFA's findings.
The Glory revealed on Friday night that they had filed an
injunction in the Supreme Court of Western Australia against FFA's decision.
On the way into the ground, one of Glory's supporter groups
chanted "We want Sagey out" in reference to owner Tony Sage.
Then, during the game, a series of flares were set off
within the club's active supporter group section amid wild scenes.
Things escalated after Sydney went 3-0 up in the second
half, with the supporter base venturing onto the concourse to set off more
flares.
Chief executive Jason Brewer made his way to the area in an
attempt to calm things down, but the group responded with the chant:
"Jason Brewer, you're not welcome here".
The result lifted Sydney FC to equal top of the table with
Melbourne Victory, who suffered a shock 1-0 home loss to Newcastle Jets earlier
in the night.
Sydney created a glut of chances in the first half.
Milos Dimitrijevic was unlucky not to open the scoring in
the 20th minute when his thunderous strike was denied by the woodwork.
But Brosque was on hand for an easy tap-in in the 35th
minute when Marc Janko's header was saved by goalkeeper Danny Vukovic.
Glory thought they had levelled through Jamie MacLaren two
minutes later, but a dubious off-side call denied the home side.
Ibini-Isei unleashed a wonderful left-foot strike from just
inside the box to double the lead in the 60th minute.
And the 7426 crowd became even more restless when Brosque
scored his second five minutes later
