Spanish giant Villarreal will take on two of the A-league's
best during May and June when they are hosted by Adelaide United and Brisbane
Roar.
Villarreal will first play the Reds at Adelaide's Hindmarsh
Stadium on May 29, before taking on the Roar at Suncorp Stadium on June 3
The matches with Brisbane and Adelaide are part of an
invitational tournament which involves some of Spain's top teams challenging
clubs in Europe, South America, North America and Asia.
Adelaide United coach Josep Gombau, who has connections to
Spanish giants Barcelona is excited to pit his team against the top-six La Liga
side.
"They play very good and attractive football where we
also get the chance to play and compare ourselves with a team that implements
the same style as us," Gombau said.
"Last year we brought out Malaga, and they play
fantastic football. The people of Adelaide got to see this and they will have
the chance to see it all again.
"It will also be a good way to end the season. It will
be a fantastic game in front of our fans at our stadium. I hope to see everyone
out supporting us."
The Roar will use the match as an opportunity to tune up for
their battle with Liverpool.
"Villarreal is one of Spain's most well-known clubs and
we're delighted to welcome them to Brisbane and to be involved in the LFP World
Challenge," Managing Director Sean Dobson said.
"We're expecting a highly entertaining, challenging
match that will provide us with a big push towards our Hyundai A-League 2015/16
campaign, along with the Liverpool match in July.
