A report in Belgium has made it clear today that Nottingham Forest will not be signing Greek striker Nikos Karelis this summer.
Voetbal Nieuws is reporting that KRC Genk have made it clear there has in fact been no approach whatsoever from the Championship side for their striker and that he is not for sale this summer at any price.
If this is the case, it is questionable just how interested Forest really were.
It was reported by the Nottingham Post, citing Greek reports, that Forest were ready to pay a club record €7 million (£6 million) to sign the Greek international this summer.
Of course the Belgian side were always likely to be reluctant to sell. They only purchased the player from Panathinaikos in January and he scored 10 goals in 18 games since.
Forest have already signed one Greek striker this summer. Apostolos Vellios, a former Everton striker, arrived from Iraklis earlier in the summer. However, it looks as though he will not be joined by his international colleague in the near future.
