Australia women's national soccer team have booked their ticket to the 2016 Rio Olympics after a 2-1 victory over DPR Korea in the fourth match of the qualifying tournament in Osaka, Japan.
Michelle Heyman opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Caitlin Foord picked out her run into the box. The Matildas striker hit the ball first time to see it crash into the back of the DPR Korea net.
The game almost exploded as reckless challenges flew in from both teams, but every player managed to avoid a red card.
It took until the 78th minute for DPR Korea to hit back through Sugyong. Her curled effort hit the top of Lydia Williams’ bar and ended up in the net.
But Australia was not to be outdone. Five minutes later Kyah Simon crossed a ball that Foord touched down for Katrina Gorry to place into the bottom corner for a famous 2-1 victory.
