Arsenal may have missed out on securing the services of Roma defender Kostas Manolas during the summer transfer window, but Sport suggests that Arsene Wenger remains keen on the Greece international.
The Gunners failed to agree a fee for the 25-year-old during an initial raid on the Italian capital, but interest may be rekindled as speculation continues to suggest that Per Mertesacker will depart the Emirates at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
Manolas would be a ready-made replacement and could see the exit door swing open in Rome as he waits on the offer of suitable fresh terms from his current employers.
He would, however, have plenty of suitors should he become available, with Sport also claiming that Barcelona and Manchester City are keeping a close eye on his contract situation.
