Arsenal could soon seal the signing of Greek international and Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis, who has got only one year left on his contract with the German Bundesliga side.
Numerous reports have recently suggested that the Gunners are closing in on securing a deal to sign the former Werder Bremen center half.
Today, The Telegraph have come up with a report and stated that the north Londoners have agreed a fee worth 16 million pounds (€18m) with BvB to sign the 29-year-old defender.
The British source have mentioned that the player is expected to agree a three year deal with Unai Emery’s team.
As far as the terms of his contract are concerned, few days back, renowned German source Bild reported that Sokratis has agreed on a three year deal worth €15m (€5m-a-year) to move to the Emirates.
Emery clearly needs to strengthen his back line after Arsenal’s disastrous campaign last term under Arsene Wenger and signing an experienced defender like Sokratis makes complete sense.
We can expect the Greek star to start with German international Shkodran Mustafi in the central defense for the Gunners as Koscielny is out with a long term injury.
