Roger Federer won a record eighth Wimbledon men's singles title on Sunday after the Swiss beat Marin Cilic of Croatia 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 in the final.
It was a disappointing day for the in-form Cilic, who required treatment on what appeared to be an injury to his foot during the match.
Federer, 36, who made a brilliant comeback from injury this year to clinch his fifth Australian Australian Open title, has now extended his grand slam title record to 19. Rafael Nadal, who Federer beat at Melbourne in January, is second on 15 major singles trophies after the Spaniard won the French Open crown in July.
Federer, 35, finished the contest in one hour and 41 minutes to claim his first Wimbledon title since 2012.
He becomes the oldest man in the Open Era to win the Wimbledon title.
