John Aloisi has been handed an interesting first assignment
as Brisbane coach, in a back-to-basics A-League draw that features a Christmas
Eve fixture.
The Roar will kick off the opening round of the 2015-16
season against Western Sydney at Pirtek Stadium on October 8 - a rare Thursday
night start for the competition.
Champions Melbourne Victory will visit Adelaide United the
following night.
In round 12, the Wanderers will host struggling Newcastle in
a 7pm (AEST) Christmas Eve match.
A-League boss Damien de Bohun said this season's fixture
list would also better cater for those teams participating in the Asian
Champions League, giving players a minimum three-day rest either side of their
games.
That will come as welcome news to the Victory and Sydney FC,
and potentially also Adelaide, if they qualify for the group stages.
